The team of AmberTrade (a trademark of the company LLC “Sonyachne Remeslo Center”) together with the governor of Rivne Oblast Vitaliy Koval and representatives of local administrations carried out afforestation of the lands with pine and birch.
Afforestation is the final stage of reclamation of areas where amber was mined.
180,000 pine and birch saplings were planted on the 17-hectare plot, which our company is restoring after the completion of the development and extraction of “solar stones”, The Rivne Institute of Land Management officially provided relevant recommendations in the land restoration project.
This is not the first reclamation that our company carried out after the completion of the works – in 2021, an area of 18 hectares was processed and returned to the Volodymyretsk community.
According to the governor of Rivne Oblast Vitaliy Koval, based on the results of 2 years after the afforestation of that area, it was estimated that 98% of the seedlings had taken root. That is, on the territory where amber was previously mined, a young forest is now growing.
“This is a good example of when a business that has all the permits and documents, pays taxes, and creates new jobs, also takes care of the environment together with caring people. It is important for us not only to create a transparent labor market, the legalization, sale, and processing of amber. And the revival of the ecosystem, so that instead of the “lunar surface” trees grow again in such areas”, – this is how the governor of Rivne Oblast characterized our work.
